It's a Start!

Well, I finally started the season today. There was a slight tailwind, which made me a little apprehensive about the possibilities for any big throws, but I was able to pull some out of the hat, never-the-less. I told someone before the competition that I would be happy with anything over 40m, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Each of my 4 throws went right down the middle and landed within about a meter of each other, and all appeared to go at least 41 meters. The best throw wound up at 42.08m, or 138’ 0.5”, which was a big 3’ 1.5” PR for me. I can only wonder what might have happened if the wind had been different. I’m thinking over 140’ in dead air, and the low 140’s with a little headwind. It was definitely a good day for my discus throwing.

My Hammer and Weight Throws were pretty poor. There’s lots of room for improvement there, and I certainly expect to see some before the season is over.
